Headed out to Fayetteville NY (Syracuse) to kick it up Turbo style with some AWESOME people!! Rose Capurro (new APD 2006) worked as the APD on this event! She did such a great job bringing in so many folks to this certification!
They were like PROS! They were so good with form and energy!! Here's Rose teaching!:

Syracuse will be known now for it's TURBO KICK rather than it's Dinosaur B-B-Q!!!

THANKS GUYS!

BOSTON EVOLUTION-TK & PIYO - 9/23-24/06

WOW! What a fun weekend!!! Mindy Robison and I traveled to Boston MA on September 22, 2006 to take part in Powder Blue's FIRST Evolution Fitness Conference! We started with a pre-conference certification (s). Arriving late on Friday night, we headed over to the gym and decorated FIESTA theme!

This group was HARD CORE ready to learn!! 52 People Getting TK Certified! Check out how close they paid attention!

They also worked their BOO-TAY off!!

THEN it was Time for PiYo!!! We had 27 people get PiYo Certified!! Check them out learning form and technique:

Then it was time to head over to the World Trade Center in Boston to set up our booth for the start of the conference bright and early SUNDAY Sept 24, 2006.

Sunday started off with a big "GULP"! I darted out of my hotel room to go catch the elevator to find Patrick Goudreau and Jeffery Scott waiting on the elevator as well! OMG!!

I said Hi- but not until Mindy came out wearing the same Turbo Track jacket as me that they read her "PiYo" pants and started the conversation about TurboKick and Chalene with us. Wow- just crazy!

This convention had SO many great presenter's! Patrick Goudreau, Jeffrey Scott, Mindy Mylrea, Robert Sherman, Julianne Arney, and MORE! Such an honor for Powder Blue to be a part of! Mindy snuck in to take a pic of me teaching about the powerhouse in our Strength Fusion Workshop:

We presented: PiYo, TurboKick 101, Strength Fusion, and Turbo HOUSE Party!

By the end of Sunday- we were tired! The excitement and energy of everyone at this event brought us through like animals!! But, in the end...we were Ty-URD!

LOL!!!

25 lbs gone! Thank you Turbo and PiYo!

Just a quick note, it can be done!! 25 LBS gone because of Turbo and PiYo! 35 Lbs from my delivery weight to now. I still have a bit to go, but I thought I would document my journey. I have vowed to try to eat more often. That is my problem, the day ticks by too fast, and I don't eat enough.
The areas I NEED to improve on: Weight Training and timing my eating.

So in just 4 1/2 months time, I have lost 25 lbs SOLEY due to the fact of TurboKick and PiYo. With having a C-section, I think this is pretty good considering I couldn't work out until 2 months in. I do Turbo 5x a week and PiYo 3x.
So not the most flattering before pics, but hey, that's what I have:

PITTSBURGH PA GETS CERTIFIED!

PITTSBURGH PA:
MAY 20-21, 2006

Pittsburgh has finally "Stolen" TK and PiYo! YE-haw! For the first time, Pittsburgh YMCA was the host for our very first successful certification! This is all thanks to the FAN-TAS-TIC crew of Highmark!
This was such a great group!

Immediately, I fell in LOVE! In the first class, I heard hoots and hollas! Oh yeah baby! They wanted it!

This was my first weekend certification post baby. Johnny's 9 weeks old, and Daddy came along for the ride to PA, and battled it out watching the Yankees in the hotel room.

This group worked HARD!

After the second Master Class! Wooo! It ROCKED!! Thanks PA!! You are da BOMB!

In Memory of my Mom

My Mother passed away this past week, Tuesday May 16th. She was 58. This was very unexpected and we're still waiting to know how. I just wanted to share with everyone a little about her and her story.

She married my father early at the age of 17. She had 4 girls, me being the last when she was 25. She always worked very hard in making us girls feel conneced and well provided for. I remember watching her decorate cakes and marveled at how she was able to make them look like real objects. My favorite was one for my father. It was a treasure chest and was overfilled spilling with gold wrapped chocolate coins. She also made all of our clothes to wear on special occasions. She took pride in making us look very cute (for the 70's).

This one was my favorite outfits as she bought us all platform white shoes. I felt like such a "big girl."

I also cherish the ceramics she used to make. She made a life size version of our doberman FiFi. I loved that and remember hugging it after my dog had passed. I would hug it as a way to re-connect with FiFi. Thankfully, I still have all my ceramics she made for me.

She loved to travel with my sister and had visited many beach destinations. She really was very proud of all of us girls. It's hard to see that when you don't have the idea that someone might not be there the next day. But while me and my sisters have been cleaning out her apartment, we have found her to be very organized in saving every little detail about her 4 girls. It's so interesting to see all the flowers she has saved from all of our weddings, the step stool I made her in 7th grade, email messages from us printed out, graduation booklets...etc. She loved to brag about her girls and grandkids. She attended so many functions and supported so many aspects of our lives. Again, we didn't really think about it then. She was there through so many aspects that wouldn't seem important to many people. Like the Halloween parades at my niece and nephews schools or just coming to the gym to watch me teach a TurboKick class.

She had taken to learning the computer and really enjoyed emailing. She liked to tan as well as go to the gym. She would go to workout at all hours everyday. She really found a way to enjoy working out. She also was one of the biggest Elvis fans. I remember so many days of watching her get ready while Elvis played. She had tickets even to go to one of his shows in Utica, but then that never happened because...well we all know what happened to Elvis.

I've learned a lot of lessons from my mom, even though she didn't raise me. I'm glad that I have taken the interests that she had such as sewing, and "eating" cake rather than making. But, I will also take a strong sense that nothing comes easy in life. We have to work to get what we want or would like. Even when you have nothing, you can make something out of it, and be proud. Just like our dresses.

We love you mom and will forever remember you and show Johnny who Nana was.

John ("Johnny") Patrick Dwyer III Has Arrived!

YAHOOOO! The day has finally come!! First of all, thank you to everyone who has been following my venture through my first pregnancy. I truly appreciate all the support and encouragement. It truly makes the experience easier and more enjoyable when you have such postive people surrounding you. And so here's the story....

Since I was 8 days late on Friday, St Patty's Day, they decided to send me in to be induced. This meant we would check in the hospital on Friday night at 7pm to start a drug that I would have to be on for 12 hours in order to start inducing. We arrived to find my friend Carol (see below for previous posting our our pregnant turbo bellies) in the room next to ours already in the middle of labor. Luckily she was able to talk as she had already gotten her epidural. ;-)

They administered the drug to start the "ripening" process, which would take 12 hours. They offered for me to take morphine to rest for the night before the big day. Buuut, ripening happened fast! By 9pm, labor had kicked in. By 1am, I couldn't wait for the Dr to adminsiter the epidural. I thought I was going to try and last as long as I could without it, maybe my pain threshold was high enough, forget about it. With contractions hitting the highest mark on our screen, I didn't feel a thing..YEAH! Around 4am, I was dilated to 6cm. Moving right along, or so I thought. By 6am, no progress was made and the baby was lodged down too deep preventing me from dilating any further. I then went in for a c-section. They did a fantastic job with my incision and sutures. Luckly I plead my case of being a fitness professional and to do the best they could for me.

Johnny was born at 8:52 am on Saturday March 18th.
He was 7 lbs 9 oz and 20 1/2 inches long.
Finally in the recovery room, 2 hours after the birth, I was able to hold him for the first time. He looks (as much as I can tell) exactly like me with possibly John's nose. The rest of his body, including is very long feet, are my husbands features. Those newborn socks that we got plently of will need to go back to the store to be exchanged.

It has been a great time at home with my husband off from work helping. I have to be careful not to rush into too much as I feel like I can do it, but have to make sure that I take my time doing things. It's just my nature to want to get back into moving as quickly as possible. He has been great sleeping in the night (knock knock knock) only getting up 2 times at 1 and 5 am. I can't help but want to to hold him rather than putting him down to sleep in the bassinet for naps or in the bouncer. Sometimes life just has to stop for 2-3 hours so I can have him sleep on my chest and just stare at him.

40 Weeks - March 9th

I hit the due date! Today was the day! As I normally wake up early now, I had some free time. Caught up on emails, ate breakfast, and watched my taped episode of the Biggest Loser...I still had some down time before I should get in the nitty gritty of work. I decided to pop in the TurboJam Cardio Party Workout.

I haven't done turbo for almost 3 weeks now, so this was going to be a challenge. I was breathless just in the warm up! I barely twisted, squatted, or punched hard...but man! Phew..it was ruff! I was sweating and tired. This workout is AWESOME! One of the great features about TJ is the time ticker. I found myself looking at it going "how much longer"! Funny since I teach TurboKick, I know this by the back of my hand, but with being so de-conditioned, this really made me push myself to...I can do it!

I really like this video and think it's SOOO good, especially for people who want to transition into TurboKick. I think if you did TJam even just a couple times, you get used to flow, the combos...and doing a live class should be a natural next step! To push yourself harder and harder. I found I had to tell myself during some sections, ok...imagine you are being filmed for a video right now, make these punches powerful and quick! My husband also has all these cameras set up throughout our living room as he bought this super duper monitoring system that he plans to use to watch the new baby. It would be great, if he could ever get it working. You can watch the video on a TV, computer, or even through the interent. BUT, having issues with the software.
So I was imagining that HE was watching me doing it while at work and showing his co-workers. That pushed me even more.

So it was a great workout today. I'm going to try and keep up the activity now to get things moving again since he can come out at anytime now. Tomorrow I'll hit the treadmill...maybe do those hills like everyone keeps telling me to do.
I'll be a little crazy and dare to post my bare belly shots. Little ball that he is, can't wait to see his face!
Now I know for sure, the next time I post, it will be with the little guy. There's no way they'll let me go another 2 weeks!

38+ Weeks - Feb 25th

Anytime now! It's getting more and more scary as you just don't know when it's going to hit! My due date according to my chart is March 9th, so that means from today, it's only 10 more short days to due date. So these pictures I have been taking on Saturday's, in which I thought was my week bump ups, are actually a little passed that time. So this pic is 38 and 2 days. Every day counts as he just gets bigger and bigger. they say he's growing 1 ounce per day! So every week, the guys gaining over 1/2 lb! Dr. says he's probably about 6 - 6 1/2 lbs right now (I asked if she could tell).

Sadly, our furniture is not in, and will not be in until.....end of April! Can you believe?? I know they screwed up. We're working on the details right now. But word to the wise, don't ever order from Simon's in Rochester. Every person I know who has been pregnant or is pregnant, is getting (bleeped) over by them. Wrong color, damaged goods, late delivery...etc... Do not go there. Sad part is they know they have a niche. There is only Babies R us and Burlington other than them.

I've decided to teach my last PiYo class this Wed. Passing the PiYo torch onto Char. I just don't want to put her in a bad spot by calling her last second when I go. It's only fair to the students and to Char. So I need to force myself to rest anyway. It's just so hard to chill. So I will be officially done teaching this Wed, at 39 weeks prego. I should get some of my sewing projects done anyway.

We will be delivering at Highland Hospital, 1000 South Ave, Rochester, NY. For family and friends who need directions:

I90 to Exit 45, 490 West ~13 miles, Goodman Street Exit 17 inner loop, LEFT S. Goodman, RIGHT Rockingham St., LEFT South Ave.

Until next time...who knows WHAT I'll be posting, another picture of me...or a picture of the new expanded family. =)

Feb 11th- 36 weeks!

Well, I finally believe my husband and others who have said having a baby is expensive. Wow-wee! We finished getting everything we will need to get and have it all spread out waiting in the "Dallas" room. That's our second bedroom filled with, can you guess? Our furniture was suppose to be delivered within 8-10 weeks. We are now at 12 weeks waiting, and they said it's going to be another 4 weeks. Well, I better go pay them a visit and get a little something out of this. They don't want to have a crazy pregnant woman running after them.

We didn't hit the record with WOWY (online beach body gym) on Feb 11th. However, we managed to have 150 people turbojamming at the same time! That's exciting! What's even more exciting is that Chalene will be on QVC hopefully at the end of this month. This is fantastic! Turbo will be everywhere! Just in time for me to get back into doing certifications. My first certification will be in the Albany NY area in May of 2006. So check out the calendar for when it gets scheduled. Gotta get those round workshops in as well as earn some free rounds by referring others to get Turbo certified! So I would LOVE for you all to start passing the word.

Today my friend Carol and I decided it was time to get a picture of us together. She is my faithful turbo buddy. We are only 1 week apart (she's 35 weeks). She is having a girl and naming her Rose.

Here is a picture taken just before we started TurboKick/Pump at the gym this morning. She has been SO awesome doing turbo right along with me every week! I tell ya, anyone who's looking to get pregnant, get into Turbo, it will keep you happier and fit! She hasn't said much of any complaints with her pregnancy. Mine has pretty much been free sailing as well with some exceptions of sciatica, and the lil' guy starting to drop.

I'm dropping my classes down from 5 TurboKick's a week to 3 Turbo's a week. I'll continue to teach the 3 Turbos and the 3 PiYo classes at the Greece Women's club. I just want to be sure I'm not overdoing it and to be smart. I just don't want to stop and love to feel like I'm superwoman...super"turbo"woman..LOL...but again, I do have to be smart....or at least try to be. =)

POST SHOWER-hose the house down

We had our Co-ed Baby Shower this past weekend, night party. It was a great time with lots of great fun! My husband surely had a great time getting my brother in laws participating in some good ol fashion "fun". I was so happy to have my entire family here at my shower. This is a very RARE occasion. Last time was my wedding, but they HAD to for that. Most of my family lives about 2 1/2 -3 hours away from me. So I was so glad to see we could ALL get together. We took this time to take a family shot....another rare thing...to get everyone looking and smiling at the same time. Wish we knew little Mikey had a toy!

We also took the opportunity to get a "Jones Girl" (4 of us sisters) picture as well. From Left to Right: Denise 38, Connie 35, Christine 33, and Dawn 37. Connie is my pregnant sister in crime. She is 4 months pregnant with her 4th child. You would never know it.

Everyone outdid themselves and we really appreciate the support and friendships we have. My husband as well outdid himself. He bought me a ring for the birth of his first born son. Let's all cross our fingers that lil' Johnny comes out in March. He bought a ring with Johnny's birthstone, aquamarine.
